What We Use to Create eLearning

The tools we use to design, develop, deploy and manage your eLearning project play a vital role in the success of your project.

TECHNOLOGY AND TOOLS

Design

We use design tools to create design elements required to complete the project. They include software, checklists, design documents, storyboards and any other resources used in the design phase of the project. The following list outlines some of the typical design documents, software and other tools instructional designers use. This list is comprehensive but not exhaustive.

DESIGN DOCUMENT

The design document, sometimes called the creative brief, outlines the strategy and specifics of the eLearning project. It ensures that we (Enovate Learning) and you (client) are on the same page. It includes information about the project’s instructional, visual and technical design strategy. Each design document may differ based on the client or training organization but most have the following elements.

1. Course goals
2. Learning objectives
3. Assessment instruments
4. Exercises / Interactivity
5. Content and subject matter analysis
6. Lesson planning
7. Media selection

Software: Microsoft Word or Microsoft PowerPoint

STORYBOARD

The storyboard is a static, visual representation of the different elements of an eLearning project. It generally includes information about graphics, audio, text and interactivity.

Software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe XD, Adobe Captivate and Articulate Storyline 360

PROTOTYPE

The prototype provides a static or interactive (or anywhere in between) version of the eLearning project. You will be able to see how the course will work, look and feel. It allows us to find problems and make changes early in the design process before we start developing the course.

Software and Tools: Paper and pencil, eLearning/Authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate or Articulate Storyline) Microsoft PowerPoint, Prototyping apps and Wireframing software (Adobe XD)

TECHNOLOGY AND TOOLS

Development

We use development tools to create and assemble the eLearning project. These tools include authoring tools, graphic design software, screencasting software, animated video creation software, video editing software, audio recording/editing software, graphic design applications, web development applications and more. The following list outlines some of the typical development tools and the elements we use them to create.

ANIMATED VIDEO CREATOR

We use short, animated videos to add interest to eLearning projects. Animation software makes it easy for us to create professional animated videos.

Software: Vyond

AUDIO RECORDING AND EDITING

We use audio recording and editing software to record and edit voice over narrations, sound effects and background music for eLearning projects.

Software: Adobe Audition and Audacity

AUTHORING

Authorings tools are used to build out eLearning web pages and assemble all its components.

Software: Adobe Captivate, Articulate Storyline 360 and Articulate Rise 360

GRAPHIC DESIGN

Graphic design software allow designers to create and edit images, photographs, graphics, GIFs and illustrations.

Software: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Animate and TechSmith SnagIt

VIDEO RECORDING AND EDITING

We use video recording and editing software to record screencasts and software simulation, and perform minor editing of already recorded videos.

Software: Adobe Premier Pro and TechSmith Camtasia

TECHNOLOGY AND TOOLS

Delivery and Deployment

eLearning delivery or deployment tools are used to deliver the eLearning course to users, employees, students or clients/customers. These delivery tools include, but are not limited to, learning management systements (LMSs), websites and learning record stores (LRSs).

LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

A learning management system provides a platform on which learners can access the eLearning and learners’ progress can be tracked. Most learning organizations have their own LMSs from which they deploy training (e.g., Saba, Moodle, Blackboard and TalentLMS). We use the following software/platform to set up small eLearning training programs.

Software/Platform: SCORMCloud, LearnDash and WordPress

TECHNOLOGY AND TOOLS

Project Management

Project management tools help us efficiently manage your eLearning project, so that things run smoothly. These tools include project management software, file transfer platforms and eLearning review applications. Below are the tools we usually use to manage projects.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

We use project management software to keep both of us (Enovate Learning LLC and client) accountable to meet role, responsiblity and deadline expectations.

Software: Trello

FILE SHARING

We use file sharing platforms to share files related to the project. Often these files are too large to send via email, so the file sharing platform is a place where both we and you can place files for the other to access or download.

Platform: Amazon Web Services (AWS) S3 (Simple Storage Service)

ELEARNING REVIEW

As the client, you will need to review each deliverable and provide feedback. This process can be frustrating, so we use review platforms that make the process simple and easy.

Software: Articulate Review 360 and ReviewMyeLearning.com

VIDEO CONFERENCING

We use videoconferencing to carry out Initial consultations, Kick-Off meetings and Follow-Up meetings.

Software: Microsoft Teams
